Making money online
is not that much hard a task and it becomes easier if you have your own
blog on the net. I'm writing a series of articles on 'how you can have
your own blog on the net free of cost'. Today's topic: Selecting the
Host.
First and foremost, you need to select a good service provider that hosts your blog. One
that will be up most of the time and with a fairly good reputation too.
You wont want to have all your entries, your hard work to go down with
them.
There are many available in the internet and one of the most popular is Blogger.com (blogspot.com) owned by Google Inc. You can read more about Blogger.com from its About page. The other one is Wordpress.org (wordpress.org). Note that both of the hosting services are free of cost.
Personally I am using blogger.com because it is rather easy to pick up and with its tight integration with Google search engines, you gonna hand it to them to spider your site very quickly too. With a big search engine player behind, you can rest assured the downtime is keep to a minimum (not that it never happened before).

You can also choose Wordpress as your hosting service but you won't get much money making opportunity in wordpress as Google AdSense can't be put on a sub domains other than the blogger ones.
I foresee with the many products from Google, it is a matter of time many of them will be integrated to each others to aid in the push to have more advertisers too.

If you are willing to make money online then you need to be serious about it. You need to work properly in order to make money from the net. And the first thing you need to do is to have your own website. Without having your own website you can't be successful in making online money.
If you want to make a website for free then I would like to direct you to blogger or wordpress. They offer free blogs for you and you don't need to buy a domain name or you don't need to pay for hosting your website. And you can transfer your blog anytime when you can afford to buy your own domain name.
The next thing you need to do is to make your website works. In fact, creating a web page is not too difficult nowadays. Almost, everyone can do it simply with the help of thousands of programs, tools and resources on the net. But, the point is not just building a website, you should have a site that works.
But, what does it mean by: "A Site that Works?"
Well, that´s a good question. Basically, most people desire to start an online business. So, most of them decide to run a website and try to monetize it. This monetization entirely depends on the amount of traffic to that website and will be achieved if only the traffic is highly targeted. The term "Highly Targeted Traffic" is literally defined as warm and willing-to-buy customers, visitors who are searching all the time on the Internet, looking for some useful information. That relative and original information is generally called content.
So,
building a profitable website is not that simple. If you want to be
successful, you should carefully learn a step-by-step process, a process
which is started by providing a most wanted and in-demand information (Content=C), after that, attracting targeted visitors (Traffic=T), then, developing trust and confidence in your visitors and overdelivering the wanted information (Presell=P) and finally converting those willing-to-purchase visitors into income (Monetize=M). This C-->T-->P-->M process is unavoidable.
But, How to monetize the website?
Well, that's not much difficult. Once you have a working website with a large number of highly targeted traffic you can easily make money from your website or blog. All you need to do is to sign up for some affiliate programs and promote the affiliate products in your website or blog.
One of the most successful affiliate program is Amazon.com. You can easily sign for Amazon affiliate and start promoting Amazon products in your blog or website. You'll earn commission from every sale that lead from your website.
There are many other affiliate programs available on the net and you can promote their products and can earn online money just by selling the products of others. Some of the affiliate programs offer you as much as a 50% commission for every sale that generates from your website.
You can even sell your own product like ebooks from your website and keep the whole money to you.

MySpace is an online community which can be
a fun way for members to meet new friends, reconnect with old friends
or make romantic connections. MySpace members who are interested in
pursuing these types of activities online are free to create a website
which reflects their personality. This will help others to understand
who they are and to learn more about their preferences.
Although MySpace offers all of these fun entertainment type activities, there are some members of MySpace who utilize the community for business purposes. They may use MySpace to network, make business connections or to promote their business. In these cases care should be taken to create a MySpace website that is attractive and interesting while maintaining a professional appearance.
Avoid Slang and Abbreviations
One way to maintain a professional appearance on a MySpace website is to avoid the use of slang or abbreviations. Many MySpace websites feature slang, abbreviations and terms which are not grammatically correct. While this type of Internet language may be entertaining and may be considered acceptable among members of the community, this type of writing is not likely to appeal to potential customers or business partners. Additionally, not everyone understand the cryptic language often used on message boards, text messages and emails and those who do not understand may have trouble reading the information presented on the website.
Keep the Design Tasteful
As previously mentioned, those who are using MySpace strictly for entertainment purposes can design a website according to their personal preferences. This may include unusual fonts, garish colors, offensive images and blaring background music. While this type of design may provide a great deal of insight into an individual’s personality it is not a good idea for a business related website. Therefore those who are using their website for promotion of a business should create a more tasteful design.
There are a few generic tips which can make a website appear more professional. The use of muted colors that complement each other can make a website aesthetically appealing. Users are more likely to spend time on websites with these types of color combinations because it is soothing. Additionally, the use of a common font type and size which makes reading the text simple is recommended. The use of background music should also be avoided in professional websites as many users either do not have speakers or may view the website in a location where they do not want to hear music.
Avoid Embarrassing Photos
Finally, special consideration should be given to the use of photos on a website which is striving to maintain a professional appearance. While those who are using MySpace for entertainment purposes only may opt to plaster their website with embarrassing pictures of them and their friends, those who have business intentions should use photos more judiciously.
The photos used on a business website should invoke a professional sentiment. This may include posed photos of the website owner in a dignified location, landscape photographs or pictures of products sold by the company. Alternately those who are using MySpace to promote products or services might consider not using images as at all. Whether or not pictures are used on a website is a matter of personal preference but when they are used, care should be taken to ensure they contribute to the overall design of the website rather than distract from it.

This is only a brief introduction of the various affiliate programs commonly used by bloggers.
Do note that several of these provide both referrals or pay-per-click banners and text links. Do not have the misconceptions that visitors have to purchase or even to pay for any items listed in the advertisements when they clicked onto them. This is incorrect. For example, when a visitor sees a hyperlink and clicked it, the advertisement will bring forward to a new website. The blogger (you) will perhaps earn a few cents under those pay-per-click ads. However, if it is just a referral ads, unless the visitor purchases something (Books, PDAs etc) that you will be paid by the provider of a certain percentage.
Will there be any loss to the visitors that click your ads?
The answer is No. Every click is payable by the providers (e.g. Google, ClickSor) which charges advertisers for a fee to place their products or services via them at your blog.
In another word, the money you receive is in fact from the advertisers and these providers are just middleman that faciliate the service.
So do I click any ads when I am visiting others' blogs? Why not? If it is something that interests you, a recommended product or services that you find value add, just click it. The visitors get values from the links, the bloggers get to earn some coins or dollars, the ad providers make a cut also and the advertisers get to have a new potential customer too. Everyone wins! :)
There are many others out there and if I missed out any of the popular ones, please leave a comment for me so that I can update it here too.
Google Adsense: The most popular one will have to be Google Adsense,
where you the blogger can select the various banners, text links to be
placed at your blog. Every clicks or installations (programs like
Firefox browser, Picasa image editor and Google Toolbar) will earn you
some money. Do note that several of these provide both referrals or pay-per-click banners and text links. Adsense is the most commonly used program by both bloggers and webmasters too and in general it is simple enough for anyone to just open one quickly and start earning money. Unlike others, you do not have to wait for any advertisers to approach your site first then to advertise. Google do all that for you the moment you placed the codes into your blog. Hassle free.
Text Link Ads from Cincinnati, brands itself as the premier targeted traffic and link popularity ad firm. Specialize in placing static html links on high quality, high traffic web properties.
True to its words, it is not easy to be in its publisher programs as Text Link Ads only goes for those websites or blogs with high traffic else more than likely you be declined to participate at all. Personally, I see it as this company striking a balance between the publishers and the advertisers to maintain a certain level of quality, to attract more paying advertisers that may have a higher returns since their ads will only be published in high traffic sites. But on the other, if their payout is not as good, will high traffic sites be using them? I think it works both ways.
Clicksor: offers webmasters the opportunity to earn additional income by simply underlining a selection of clickable text or displaying targeted contextual banners on their websites or blogs.
Paypopup: publishers or webmasters can select from a wide range of decent media such as Banner, Layer Ads, Pop-Under Advertisements to host on their websites. It claim to reward affiliate members with one of the highest payout rates in the industry on a Bi-weekly payment basis. Do try it out first to see if those advertisements aer suitable for your readers or not.
I tried it out a couple of times and it has adult theme banners splashing all over my personal blog which is a big NO NO for me. Anyway, no harm signing up since it is free but do take note ok? You don't wanna end up having something 'objective' on a family oriented blog. :)
AdBrite: "If you're a publisher, use AdBrite to set your own ad rates, and approve or reject every ad that's purchased for your site. AdBrite enables you to instantly sell ads to your visitors via a "Your Ad Here" link, in addition to selling through AdBrite's marketplace and sales team."
Of the many affiliate programs, I find that AdBrite website is the prettiest. The placements of advertisers products and informations are clearly spelled out without the need for any 2nd guess. It is also very easy for any bloggers to play around with the amount you want to be paid for advertisers to place ads at your blog.
Amazon.com: You must have been living under a rock if you do not know who or what Amazon.com is. :)
Other than being the world's largest online shopping mall, where you can almost get anything you want, it also provides 'Amazon Services'. Affiliate programs that members can sign up to be an amazon associates.
From the site; "The Amazon Associates program was the first online affiliate program of its kind when it launched in 1996. Today, it is among the largest and most successful online affiliate program, with over 1,000,000 members world-wide. If you are a Web site owner, Amazon seller, or Web developer, you can start earning money today and earn up to 8.5% in referral fees."

Traffic = Money !!!
A
website without traffic is like a dead page on the Internet. Actually,
it seems that it has disappeared among millions of the web pages out
there. If you have some visitors, you will then be able to offer them
something, convert them into customers and generate profit.
But,
getting traffic is not that simple. As a matter of fact, it is the most
difficult step of your online business. Basically, there are hundreds
of free and paid methods out there which can help you get some traffic
and of course, new methods are coming everyday. Sometimes, getting
traffic becomes a time-consuming, costly and professional process. So,
the question is how to get FREE and FAST traffic?
As
you may know, there are literally hundreds of methods and strategies to
get traffic to your web pages, but I am not going to get through all of
them in this post. Rather, I will get through only one of those methods
which is really suitable for everyone. Normally, it costs nothing to
get started, the traffic is received instantly and it doesn´t require
you to work very hard.
Getting FREE Traffic By Using Traffic Exchange Systems:
This
method is about using Traffic Exchange Resources. As you see, there are
a lot of resources on the Internet which can generate traffic for you.
This method is based on a basic concept: you visit the other´s websites,
they visit yours. That´s it. This process can be done manually or
automatically.
Some
people don´t think it is a good method. They are saying that the
traffic you will get through this system is not effective and targeted.
But, in my personal point of view, if you do the process properly, not
only will you get a lot of traffic, but also will you make a lot of
money. I know some Internet Marketers that get their visitors just by
using this system and they are making some good money on the Internet.
Anyway,
I guess this method is perfect for those who have a little time but no
money and want to advertise their businesses and get instant results.
There are of course some tips and secrets in this method that you need
to learn. Then, you can even dominate this FREE method to get some heavy
traffic to your web pages.
Best FREE Traffic Exchange Systems!
Honestly,
there are thousands of traffic exchange resources on the net, but
unfortunately, some of them don´t work. Yet, you can find some useful
resources which may help you get hits and visitors to your web pages.
In
this post, I have listed some useful resources where you can get FREE
traffic to your websites. At the moment, the sign up process for most of
them is quite simple and completely FREE. I suggest you to join as many
programs as possible and start working with them in order to get the
best results.

will get. Another tip is to prepare a good and attractive page (Splash
Page) for these systems and send the traffic to them. Your job is to
capture the visitor´s eye and get their attraction. Then, make them
interested in your offers and then ....! WOW! Good results. Try it now
and you will get shocked by the results.
